You can hear an earthquake right before it strikes - the ground grumbles. Soon after the ground rumbles under your feet. While the earthquake usually stops at one rumble this one kept rumbling and rumbling. Being the adult I needed to be calm. I was here in Santa Cruz during the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake this is nothing campared to that one. After experiencing that big one, earthquakes have become a bit of a joke to me. Oh, don't get me wrong, my heart jumps a little because you never know how long the ride will be - but, pah, 5.6! :}
Kaitlin & Breana made their way under the dining table. 5.6 was big to them.
Dan was visiting a friend at Valley Medical, not too far from the epicenter.

All are home right now. We'll turn the tv off soon - as soon as we've heard enough recounts of other peoples' experiences during the quake. Until then...
